As states continue to ban the sale of products containing hydrofluorocarbon pollutants (HFCs), garage door manufacturer Clopay is letting customers know that they can install its Intellicore polyurethane insulated residential and commercial overhead sectional doors with confidence.

“Clopay Intellicore doors have never contained HFCs and comply with legislation enacted by jurisdictions in California, Washington, and others,” says residential products director Justin Evans.

HFCs are considered greenhouse gasses that can contribute to global warming and also damage the ozone layer.

On July 1, 2020, New Jersey became the latest state to prohibit the use of hydrofluorocarbons as a blowing agent in polyurethane foams.

Clopay is continuing to update its website and product literature to reflect its compliance with environmental regulations as they are enacted, including:

  • California SB 1013
  • Washington HB 1112 - Hydroflurocarbon Greenhouse Gas Emissions
  • New Jersey A-5583/S-3919 - Greenhouse Gas Bill
  • Canadian regulations amending the ozone-depleting substances and halocarbon alternatives regulations.
