Clopay Corporation to Sponsor Habitat for Humanity "Build" in Ohio

Habitat for Humanity broke ground today on a new build sponsored by Clopay Corporation, North America’s largest residential and commercial garage door manufacturer with facilities in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Arizona.

At the groundbreaking in Sidney, Ohio, Clopay announced it will provide $100,000 in sponsorship funding for the build, which is scheduled to begin immediately with a completion date expected in April 2021.  In addition to providing financial support, the company will donate its American-made Clopay Entry and Garage doors that are manufactured at its Troy and Russia, Ohio facilities.

“Our local communities have backed us for years by providing amazing employees and overall support. This project is a natural fit for us as a building products company to give back not only financially, but by donating our products as well,” said Clopay Corporation President Steve Lynch.  “In a year of unpredictable circumstances, we are excited to have something incredibly special to celebrate. Clopay will be the main sponsor of the build and after deciding to support this amazing organization, we were excited to learn that the worthy new homeowner is a member of our own Clopay family, Marie Strunk.”

Strunk and her children were on hand at the groundbreaking ceremony along with Lynch, local Habitat for Humanity Executive Director Bill Horstman, Sidney Mayor Mike Barhorst and Construction Manager Paul Hoying.

“We are proud of the commitment that Marie has already made to warrant a new home for her and her children,” Lynch added.  “The house will be ADA compliant to help her more easily care for her family.”

People from Miami and Shelby County and all over the world partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. With our help, Habitat homeowners achieve the strength, stability and independence they need to build a better life for themselves and their families.

Habitat makes homeownership affordable by offering mortgage loans with flexible terms and zero-interest or zero-equivalent, to low-to-moderate (LMI) families. Monthly payments are recycled back into the affiliate, which helps support the long-term sustainability of Habitat’s programs.

“We are excited about the opportunity to have Clopay and the Sidney community be a part of this build,” said William Horstman, executive director at Habitat for Humanity of Miami and Shelby Counties, Ohio.  “Clopay is the largest employer in our community and by supporting us financially and with product donations, they are setting a great example of an engaged corporate neighbor.”
