“Garage doors become a fashion statement” is the headline as the magazine looks back at the manufacturing materials and technology that have catapulted doors to increasingly higher levels of energy efficiency, design, durability and security. 

Garage doors have a come a long way since 1993 when the most popular style was raised panel steel. The biggest design innovations of the time included an expanding palette of paint colors and decorative leaded look windows. In recent years the growing size of cars and increasing demand for more storage space are among the factors encouraging the expansion of garage design.

Popular carriage house style garage doors were originally limited to wood. Today, composite polymers with woodgrain finishes offer that same appearance with lower maintenance and more energy efficiency.
