Our September imagineNATION Contest winning makeover shows the benefits of trying something new when necessity dictates a home improvement.

When it was time to replace his old garage door because it wasn’t working properly, the homeowner says he was ready to order the exact same door style, only with better insulation.

Clopay’s Door Imagination System gave him the confidence to “try on”
different designs, just for fun.

He liked what he saw and branched out from a traditional white raised panel steel door to a white carriage house model with decorative handles and hinges for added character.

The dealer,Advanced Overhead Door Company, encouraged him to go not one, but two steps farther outside of his comfort zone by recommending a black Gallery Collection steel door with windows to add elegance to the home’s black and white color scheme. 

The owner says, "It's funny, but the new garage door has been life changing. When we arrive home each day, it really makes a nice difference.  Like most garages, mine is unheated. With the new insulated door, the garage is definitely warmer and more comfortable than the temperature outside." 

 

An  Insulated garage door is typically quieter when it opens  and closes because the insulation is bonded to the metal frame so it doesn't rattle and shake.

Adding windows to the door also had a huge impact.

 

The garage is brighter thanks to more natural light coming in during the day and the owners can see outside without having to open the door.
